now who do I vote for?!
Edwards didn't even make it to the primary so I could vote for him. I know, I know, he wasn't going to win....but I liked his vision.
Now, on to making another decision.

a day of sun
Yes, Rain. Lots of it. I'm content knowing all the benefits that come with lots of rain. Thinking of these benefits sometimes cannot always pull me out of the funk that long stretches of rain and clouds bring with them. I am a native Californian, and I have adapted very well to my environment. I need sun. These Seattle-like stretches have made me realize how much I enjoy the sun.
Flashback yesterday. Sun, blue sky, Simpson's clouds. Beaming, warming, awakening, shining sun. All day long.
When Joaquin went to dreamland, I sat outside in a little patch of direct sun and just sat quietly, listening, absorbing the warmth of the sun. 'Ah' with a lot of H's after it would be a start to how lovely it felt to sit there. Later that afternoon, we took a lengthy walk with friends in Davis....through beautiful parkways with trees, shadows, creeks, and birds.
I felt renewed after a day of sun...and the soaking in of it. Whoever termed "soaking in the sun" did a great task of putting an adjective to the experience of the sun.
So, this morning I awoke to Joaquin and darkness and more rain. I think now I am refuelled and ready to go. Solar is an energy source.

let it snow
Again....strange weather popping up. Today, snow fell in Baghdad. The first snow in resident's lifetimes. A news article I read stated,
"For a couple of hours anyway, a city where mortar shells routinely zoom across to the Green Zone became united as one big White Zone. As of late afternoon, there were no reports of violence. The snow showed no favoritism as it fell faintly on neighborhoods Shiite and Sunni alike."
Nothing like a little snow to bring peace to all. Maybe the key to peace is to get our troops out of there and leave some Hollywood-style snow machines.

the storms... they are a changin'
I have never feared a storm. In fact, I enjoy them overall-if I'm indoors that is. There is a humbling sense of awe when a storm shows up. I love thunder & lightening. I light candles in ritualistic form, as if to honor the forces of nature that override the human ego. This also works out well when the power goes out, no scrambling for candles or matches. Although, in our home, lighting candles is the usual. Not just something we do in an emergency or on a 'special' occasion.
Well, our recent storms have made national news. The most intense day of wind and rain had me frozen & stalled many times during the day as itsy-bitsy bits of fear surfaced in myself, which is not my common response to storms. It was the most intense storm I have experienced since living in Sacramento. We lost a fence, but that is nothing. A tree destroyed a home in Sacramento that had a sterile environment for a toddler who had just survived a bone marrow transplant. The family was in panic over the wellbeing of their child, with their lives literally torn in half. Our fence blew over. The two experiences seem lifetimes apart.
This photo was taken around the block. Many trees were destroyed in our neighbourhood. Old trees were completely uprooted, finding their next life as firewood. Our fence blew over. Trees have two ways to fall. Away from something, or into something. Is it a flip of the coin?
As I experienced this storm, I quietly reminded myself that this is the first of many storms and weather patterns that will be a part of our lives due to the climate change. The storms will be more severe. Not just in other parts of the world as we have already witnessed, but right here. So, hold on to your hats ya'll.
