If David Lynch can do it....

I've never blogged before. Never. Ever. I have spent a total of probably 2 hours in my lifetime reading blogs. I find it interesting, but dont feel like spending my precious time blogging. I should be doing something more enlightening....like meditating.

Which brings me to my very first post here. I just read an article in the latest Utne reader about David Lynch and his daily meditation. That twisted devil meditates. Not once, but twice a day. For 20 minutes. For the past 30 years.
I figured if David Lynch can meditate, so can I. And I know I need to meditate. I value it's importance, however....I dont seem to value it enough to make it a part of my day. This makes me disappointed for allotting time on other things. It's a simple formula, whatever you spent the most time doing is what you value most.

Reading the David Lynch article overlapped with me revisiting Thich That Hanh's beautiful work "Peace is every step". Now, I read this about 15 years ago, and thought it was peaceful and nice. But now revisiting it, I found that I'm understanding it in a new way. Be mindful. Practice. Practice. Practice. Practice your whole life. Just start now, be aware of your breath. Get distracted, and remember to be mindful and bring yourself back to the present moment. Repeat throughout the day. All day. Everyday of your life.
So, Im taking the David Lynch challenge, Im going to make meditation a part of my day, along with mindfulness. Check back with me in 30 years and see how I've changed.
